Our History |
Jones Medical Design was started as Jones Handyman Services in 2002 when my wife, Lorelle, who is a therapy professional, asked me to install a grab bar for a patient of hers who was being discharged. Soon other therapists were asking me to help their soon-to-be discharged patients as well. I found that I had less and less time for other endeavors, and in 2003 I began to devote myself exclusively to home safety services. As the word spread among therapy facilities and home health companies, I began to explore other products that fit into my business plan, and in early 2006 I began thinking about transfer poles. After hours of consultation with area therapists I began experimenting with various features of transfer poles, most notably the finish. I saw that many facilities in the area were wrapping foam tape around their poles, or putting heavy grips on them to insure traction. I wanted to make a pole that was non-slip from top to bottom, making it a safer pole. After much trial and error, I found the right finish and the right hardware for making a safer, more versatile and less expensive pole than others that are on the market. A local therapy company saw the benefits of my pole and asked me to put one in their physical therapy gym, and with their help and input, we had soon refined our transfer pole into the product we sell today. With a therapy professional in the family, we are able to keep up with the latest products, services, and techniques to make sure you receive the best service available. |
